DESCRIPTION:Date: September 29\, 2022\nTime: 10:30 – 12:30\nCost: Member Rate – £100\, Non-member Rate – £200\nAudience: Supporting Member\, Associate Member and Member\nPlatform: Zoom (online)\n\n\nCourse overview\nWorking in boarding is one of the most rewarding jobs in a boarding school but when your home is your job\, getting the work/life blend right can be challenging. \nThis event will explore how to set boundaries\, manage expectations\, and protect yourself and your family while providing outstanding pastoral care to the pupils in your boarding house. \n  \nLearning outcomes\n\nTime management and boundary setting\nConflict resolution\nA wellbeing framework to develop for your setting.\n\n  \nExpert speakers:\nLorraine Atkins FTIOB\nDirector\, The Institute of Boarding (TIOB) \nLorraine Atkins is the Director of TIOB and has worked in virtually all roles within the boarding community in both the UK and overseas. \nShe started her teaching career as a geography teacher at Lawnside School\, Malvern in 1988\, before moving on to King’s School\, Worcester in 1994 and then Wycliffe College\, where she was Head of Geography and Housemistress from 1997 to 2007. From 2007 to 2012\, she was Senior Mistress and Head of Geography at Malvern College\, before taking on a new role as Deputy Head of Malvern College Qingdao\, China in 2012 and then Head in 2014. More recently\, Lorraine was Principal of Padworth College following her time as Principal of Bishopstrow College. \n  \nMark Robinson FTIOB\nSenior Consultant\, The Institute of Boarding (TIOB) \nMark Robinson is a Senior Consultant to TIOB and has a wealth of pastoral experience. His first post in boarding was as Assistant Master at Christ’s Hospital in Horsham where he held several positions including Assistant Housemaster to a junior boy’s boarding house. After five years he moved on to Ardingly College in West Sussex as a Head of Department and Housemaster to a joint day and boarding house. Mark has been an inspector on boarding inspections\, an Assistant Housemaster to a girls’ boarding house and fully involved in teaching up to ‘A‘ Level. \nMark was appointed as Assistant Director of Training for the Boarding Schools’ Association in 2010\, where he continued offering training and consultancy to independent and state schools both in the UK and around the world. In 2017 he was appointed as Deputy Head Pastoral at Collège du Léman in Switzerland\, a large international boarding and day school.
