Course Outline:

This interaction session will cover key interpersonal skills such as effective communication, active listening, negotiation, and mediation. You’ll learn how to address disagreements productively while strengthening team cohesion and morale.

We’ll also take a closer look at managing formal processes, including staff disciplinaries and workplace investigations. We’ll demonstrate how strong conflict management skills can support procedural fairness, the preservation of professional relationships, and become a powerful catalyst for innovation and growth.

Learning outcomes:

  • Be able to understand the causes and dynamics of conflict including different conflict resolution models and theories
  • Develop proactive, effective and constructive conflict resolution skills and recognising the value of different perspectives
  • Be confident in leading on staff disciplinaries and investigations both in terms of process and maintaining relationships.

Gaelle Sullivan, Director of Research, Inclusion and IELA

Gaelle is Director of Research, Inclusion and IELA and joined the BSA in January 2023. She is an experienced senior leader and has worked in a range of state and independent schools. She is a qualified SENCO and holds a Masters Degree in Inclusive Education. Prior to joining the BSA, Gaelle was Deputy Head Pastoral, DSL and Head of Boarding at an all-girls independent school in the South-East.
