Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a new Housemaster/Housemistress (HoMM) with the drive and vision to run a happy and thriving boarding house.

Aberdeen House is one of two adjoining girls’ boarding houses and offers attractive modern accommodation for up to 60 girls from Year 9 to Lower VIth Form.

Whilst the role of the boarding HoMM can be demanding, it is also incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. The boarding culture at Ardingly is strong, and weekend activity is vibrant. The position of HoMM is well-respected in the College, and is acknowledged to be excellent preparation for further promotion to other Senior Management positions.

The position would suit someone with both teaching and pastoral experience in an independent school. Educational qualification to graduate level and professional teaching qualifications are expected. Any teaching subject will be considered, and teaching responsibilities will be reduced to reflect the responsibilities of the role. A willingness to participate in the school’s busy co-curricular programme is essential.

Ardingly has its own generous salary scale and the financial package offered will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the post and the experience of the person appointed. In addition to their normal teaching salary, the HoMM will receive a significant responsibility allowance and accommodation is provided.
