We are looking to appoint a number of Gap Assistants to join us from September 2023. Gap Assistants play a vital part in the running of our happy school, making this varied and busy role both challenging and fulfilling. Salisbury Cathedral School is located in one of Britain’s most idyllic locations in the heart of the Salisbury Cathedral Close. Housed in the 13th century former Bishop’s Palace, Salisbury Cathedral School is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls from 3 to 13.
Gap Assistants play a vital part in the running of this happy school, making this varied and busy role both challenging and fulfilling. Although Gap Assistants will require the flexibility to work across a range of departments, an interest in supporting the boarding house and sports department is vital.
Gap Assistants help in the running of the boarding house, assisting with wake up, breakfast and boarders’ daily routine. Additionally, Gaps help with boarders’ prep in the evenings and run games and activities for boarders during their free time. Gaps play a crucial part in creating a family atmosphere built on our strong pastoral ethos.
Central to the role is helping out in the games department by supporting fixtures and assisting in games lessons. Salisbury Cathedral School is the home of the Salisbury Cathedral Choristers, with music an intrinsic part of SCS; Gaps may be asked to assist with boarders’ music practice as needed.
The Gaps live in their own self-contained five bedrooms flat within the Bishop’s Palace, with kitchen, living room and bathroom of which they have use for their year they are with us. During term time the Gaps have access to free meals at breakfast, lunch and supper.
