Job Summary

Moorland School, an independent school for children aged 3 months to 18 years, is looking for staff to join a small but established team of Boarding Staff whose aims and duties are:

  • to safeguard and promote the welfare of boarders and to act as a point of contact for parents, guardians and staff,
  • to provide pastoral care, guidance and advice as necessary,
  • to promote a homely, family feel within the boarding house, ensuring that the children feel safe and secure at all times.
  • to plan and lead a programme of activities in the evenings and weekends.

The position would suit someone with previous experience of working with either children or young adults, although this is not a pre-requisite.

The boarding team provides care for children between the hours of 4pm and 11pm in the evening and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Various weekday evening and weekend daytime and evening shift options are available.

This is mainly a term time only position (33 weeks per year) although there is also the opportunity for overtime during the school holidays. You will be paid at an hourly rate of for working hours and a £35 per night inconvenience allowance for sleeping in, should this be required.

All meals are provided and Moorland School will enrol you on the Government Work Place Pension Scheme.

In line with the School’s safe recruitment policy, the appointment of the successful candidate will subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be covered by the School.
