Job Description

We are a selective state grammar school with academy status situated in the small market town of Newport in rural Shropshire. It is a boy’s school with a co-educational Sixth Form although it will become co-educational in Year 7 from September 2024. There are currently about 1050 pupils on roll; approximately 100 of these are boarders. The Sixth Form has about 370 students, of whom about 120 are girls.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, adaptable, and hardworking team player to look after the well-being of the boy’s resident in the Senior Boarding House, and oversee all aspects of the running of the Senior Boarding House, while reporting to the Head of Senior Boarding. The Residential Boarding Housekeeper/Matron would have hours that predominantly occupy from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the evenings on school nights, as well as providing on-call support overnight should a boarder become unwell.

Actual salary: £20,586–£21,442 dependent upon experience (Accommodation included)

Full-time salary based on 37 hours: £23,117–£24,079 pa, pro rata
