William Goldsmith, Head Teacher, St George’s School, Windsor Castle and TIOB Executive Committee Member, has joined the discussion around the 21st century education system and responded to the article ‘Times Education Commission calls for schooling reset’ (Wednesday 15 June, 2022) with his support for the commissioner’s proposed 12-point plan. In his letter, he wrote:
“Sir, I am pleased the Times Education Commission’s 12-point plan is receiving much-needed debate. Our obsession with assessment and a narrow curriculum, hardly developed since the Industrial Revolution, now sits alongside a crisis in the mental health of young people. I have seen the transformational impact of a baccalaureate philosophy; now is the time for courage and bravery to create a real-world approach to education.”
