The man who took a photo of the glaring error suggested that whoever was responsible for the mix-up should pop into the school for a “couple of English lessons”
Workers managed to misspell the word ‘school’ after repainting a road they’d resurfaced outside a Swansea primary. Parents who turned up to collect their children from Llangyfelach Primary School yesterday (April 25) were quick to notice that the word had instead been spelt ‘shcool’.
One dad who took a photo of the glaring error posted it on Facebook along with the suggestion that whoever was responsible should pop into the school for a “couple of English lessons”.
The snap has since had hundreds of likes and comments, with many equally as dumbfounded as to how it could have happened.
“Should be made to write it out 100 times,” joked one reply. Another added, “OMG, you can’t make this up. Surely there were others with the person who painted it? Why didn’t they spot it either?”
“Just embarrassing,” shrugged a third person. Even Swansea Council was quick to comment in order to establish that it wasn’t responsible for the mistake.
A spokesperson for the local authority told WalesOnline : “We’ve looked into this and it’s a mistake by Wales and West Utilities after they’d carried out some work in front of the school. They are returning to correct the errors.”
Speaking to the BBC, Wales & West Utilities said the slip had occurred following repairs to the nearby gas network. The company’s Phil Whittier said: “Unfortunately, (we) have misspelt the word ‘school’. The team are returning tomorrow morning to replace the markings with the correct letters and we are confident the teachers will give them full marks this time.”
Eagle-eyed locals also spotted that, in another incident, the word ‘ysgol’ had also been misspelt as ‘ysool’ outside the school. However Wales & West Utilities said that had been there previously and hadn’t been painted by them.TIOB News
