Our 2023 Senior Summer School will operate from 2nd July to 13th August

Felsted is a leading day and boarding independent school based in a stunning village campus in North Essex. Founded in 1564 by Richard Lord Riche, who had been a Lord Chancellor under King Edward VI, Felsted today provides an exceptional holistic education to approximately 1100 boys and girls aged four to eighteen. We celebrated our 450th anniversary in 2014, one of only a handful of Schools in the country that have claimed this historic milestone. We employ more than 160 teachers and 440 operational staff in a community orientated environment, ensuring our pupils receive the very best in learning and co-curricular activities.

Our International Summer School ran online in 2020 and 2021, and returned to onsite programming for our 9th year in 2022. We are excited to have another year of in-person programming for the 2023 Summer term. Operating during the School Summer Holidays for six weeks, the programme offers students a wide range of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities for c500 students aged 8-17 from every continent in the world. To run our successful and well-established programme, we need creative, enthusiastic and well qualified staff to work with us.

We are looking for Assistant House Parents to carry out pastoral duties and assist in supporting the boarding house for students 12-17 during our International Summer School. The post requires flexibility due to some early starts and late finishes. It is essential that the role holder is approachable and able to deal with problems efficiently and calmly such as cases of homesickness. The ideal applicant will have previous experience of working with young people.

This is a fixed-term role; the Summer School runs between 2nd July and 13th August 2023 with inductions being held virtually from 29th June to 30th June and onsite on 1st July. There is the possibility of 4 or 6 week positions available (4 week contracts are from 2nd July – 30th July). The role will require the appointee to be residential for the duration of Summer School, which will involve some boarding duties, as well as involvement in excursions and social activities as required.

We are rated ‘Excellent in every aspect’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
