Are you ready to create lasting memories, inspire young minds, and be part of something truly special? Bede’s is seeking to appoint a dedicated and organised Boarding House Manager to join us at our Prep School from September 2024 as we relaunch our Boarding House in Eastbourne.

Reporting to the Boarding House Parent, this is an exciting opportunity for someone to be responsible for the care, supervision and well-being of pupils; to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the House routines and systems and maintain the good presentation of the House. They will be an advocate for Boarding by maintaining a positive atmosphere in the House.

We require someone who is an empathetic and proactive person who can form a strong presence in the house during the day. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills between parents and staff, who is organised and is able to conduct themselves with professionalism and observe confidentiality. In accordance with School policies and procedures we are looking for someone who can provide appropriate administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the House, supervise boarders during the day during breaks and ensure that unwell boarders are accompanied to the Medical Centre or the local hospital as appropriate.

Most of all, we are searching for someone who has experience in working with children and adolescents, they will be a proactive and enthusiastic team player, have relevant first aid & mental health first aid qualifications, if not a holder of certificates in these areas or be willing to acquire one at Bede’s request. A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for all shifts is essential.

This is a permanent position starting in September 2024, 32 hours per week (0.8 contract), 52 weeks per year. Due to the nature of the role, we will require the individual to be on a rota for every other weekend & 2 or 3 nights a weekAccommodation is available only when on duty. The weeks worked per year can be discussed at interview.

The pro rata’d salary for this position will be £23,993.66 per annum (FTE £30,000).
