Job Description

Required from September 2023

Deputy Head, Pastoral

Roedean is an extraordinary school, sitting within the South Downs National Park and overlooking the English Channel.  It is not just the location, but our reputation for excellence in pastoral care, our strong academic focus, and our genuine belief in the importance of creativity and an all-round education, that makes Roedean unique.

The Deputy Head Pastoral is a key member of the Senior Team, and this is a great opportunity for a highly qualified and experienced individual to take the lead at a time of continued development, and with the arrival of a new Head from April 2023.

We are seeking to appoint a remarkable and visionary person to lead the School’s pastoral strategy and to ensure the progress and welfare of every pupil.  The postholder will also be the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

This is an exciting and challenging whole school role which would suit a candidate with experience of pastoral leadership, strong skills in maintaining positive relationships and outlooks, and experience delivering whole school improvement. We welcome your interest in being part of our continuing journey.

Roedean is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

Closing date:  9am, 6 February 2023.   Interviews will be held 9 February 2023.
