Job Description

A rare opportunity to lead development on a highly flexible basis

Bloxham School is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. Situated in north Oxfordshire, the School enjoys state-of-the-art facilities for academic work, sport, technology and the arts on a modern, single-site campus. With around 500 students, Bloxham is small enough to ensure that each student receives individual attention yet large enough to offer every opportunity a school twice its size could deliver.

The School is now looking to appoint a Head of Development who will have responsibility for fundraising, community relations and establishing a long-term culture of giving at Bloxham. Excellent foundations have been laid in terms of alumni relations, data, legacy giving and cases for support, and the successful candidate will join a well-established, collaborative and enthusiastic team.

This is an exciting opportunity at an impressive and quietly ambitious school to significantly increase long-term philanthropic income and community engagement by establishing a strategic development plan based on best practice and sound experience. The role is part-time (0.6 FTE) and provides a rare opportunity for an ambitious development professional to further their career while achieving a strong work/life balance.

The role, focusing primarily on fundraising for bursaries initially, is most likely suited to a highly experienced and passionate development professional with expertise in securing major gifts, regular giving, legacies, stakeholder relations, strategy and planning. The experience and gravitas to build relationships and secure engagement and support at all levels are also essential, along with creativity, flexibility and an open mind to embrace the challenges and opportunities that this unique role presents. Previous schools experience is not essential.
