ROLE SUMMARY:

 

St. Peter’s International School is an international school providing a competitive, high-quality response to the needs of a diverse population. All staff at St. Peter’s are actively involved in the pastoral life of the school. The role will also offer the opportunity for contribution to co-curricular clubs and enrichment.

 

St. Peter’s International School is seeking to hire two full-time residential boarding assistants. The House Tutor works in conjunction with the Head of Boarding and House Parent to ensure the safe welfare and pastoral care of all boarders at St Peter’s International School, Palmela, Portugal.

 

Please note that the successful candidate will be expected to reside in the Boarding House to perform on-call duty responsibilities to be shared with the Head of Boarding, and other staff as appropriate.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist in maintaining positive cooperation, cleanliness, and adherence to rules within the boarding house.
  • Maintain a neat appearance and supervise boarding house activities.
  • Conduct boarder roll calls and work effectively within a team.
  • Model appropriate behavior, attitude, and values for boarders.
  • Foster positive relationships with boarders and establish fair boundaries.
  • Monitor and encourage boarders’ personal, social, emotional, academic, and physical growth.
  • Supervise prep/homework, liaise with teachers, and attend parent/teacher conferences and training events as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with House Parents and the Head of Boarding on boarder concerns.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Head of Boarding, including administrative tasks, medication dispensing, and organizing activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

  • Ability to supervise the care of young people in a residential setting contributing to their social, emotional, educational and physical development.
  • Sound communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  •  A positive and supportive team member.
  • Basic First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Driver’s License to transport boarders to activity destinations (preferable)
